POSTION OVERVIEW:

A Webaspx Developer will work in a global software company, primarily within our York office, providing support and/or lead software development expertise for several Webaspx products. These may include thick client, web client, and mobile applications. Typically, but not exclusively, applications are written in C# within Microsoft visual studio. Code management is performed within Bitbucket, with Jira used to manage feature requests and bug fixing. Our applications integrate with Microsoft Azure or Amazon AWS SQL Server databases. Windows and Android Mobile devices integrate with GPS, GPRS, external camera, weighing, and various input devices. Web-based solutions mainly use ASP.NET, AJAX, jQuery, and JavaScript.

This position will report to the Head of Engineering or Head of Operations in York but will be part of a wider team based in York, Portland Oregon (USA), Jacksonville Florida (USA) and Toronto (Canada). As such, they may be expected from time to time to work with other engineers in different locations. RESPONSIBL

  • Develop fully formed applications or specific features
  • Support customer implementation via appropriate documentation
  • Develop automated service verification software to streamline installations
  • Use C# in Microsoft Visual Studio to deliver new software or software features
  • Write easy to maintain, well-documented code
  • Maintain code in Bitbucket
  • Create interfaces that adhere to Webaspx house style
  • Accurately gather customer requirements for specific features
  • Work with the customer to identify and bridge gaps in their current working practices
  • Provide quality, easy to use software
  • Correct bugs in their own and other developers code
  • Assist in the maintenance of software user guides
  • Assist in Software QA and Testing

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Software engineering experience
  • Experience with .NET, C#, JavaScript·
  • Team player with ability and willingness to collaborate across multiple projects
  • Ability to juggle various tasks
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • Flexibility and willingness to work on whatever is required; being a medium-sized company, we wear multiple hats
  • Exceptional communication skills - the position requires talking with customers, partners, and other suppliers
  • A positive can-do attitude
  • Willingness to provide tech support from time to time.
  • Webservices experience
  • GIS or Web Mapping experience
  • Mobile development experience
  • Familiarity with cloud-based computing such as Microsoft Azure, AWS
  • SQL / Stored procedures experience
  • Occasional travel to visit other companies or customer sites to generate specific functional requirements may be required
